Our Project

SoundSafe

SoundSafe is a cutting- edge technology designed to significantly reduce food loss and waste, particularly in the fruit and vegetable sectors.
The technology leverages a novel integration of microwave and ultrasound treatments to extend the shelf- life of perishable food products without altering their nutritional or sensory properties. This is crucial in addressing the global challenge of food waste, where a substantial portion of the food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted annually.

How the SoundSafe Works

Preparation and Detection

Food items are prepared and loaded into the system where the detection unit assesses and categorizes them by type, size, and maturity.

Treatment Application

Based on the detection data, the control unit directs the items to the microwave chamber for initial treatment, followed by the ultrasonic chamber for further processing. The specific parameters of microwave power and ultrasonic frequency are tailored to each product type and condition.

Post-Treatment Handling

After treatment, the products are moved out of the system and are ready for packaging and distribution. The extended shelf life allows for longer storage and transport times, reducing the risk of spoilage.
